    Um. Sad.

Why destroy such a great documentary with so many stupid ads?

@John: I think that’s how they’re able to provide such a cool documentary for free

great documentary. I wonder what the real NK looks like, the one that isn’t presented on the tour.

    LOL

I will not be buying anything NOOKA just to spite the awful frequency of the same lame ad with the disheveled clown and his robot.

    Liked the documentary.

I agree that the ad is annoying because it interrupts the flow of the documentary, BUT I’m willing to sit through it because the documentary is so important–informative and scary, too. It reminds me of East Germany in the early 1980′s. Tours in Berlin were controlled in exactly the same way, but when one saw the countryside farmers were working fields by hand (!) and with 1950′s broken down John Deere tractors. I had the same experience of being in restaurants which were reserved only for the tourists. It is sad that even Cambodia, after 20 years of Pol Pot, is more connected with the wider world today. Thanks for posting this!

Can’t say I noticed the ad. Played one per 20 minute clip. Fantastic. As for the N. Korea beyond the tour, I’m not sure you’ll find too much more than those few electricity-less shells of towns. People living, almost literally, in the dark ages. It is truly bot tragic and terrifying.
